These work much better on the outside of the cover instead of the inside. I've always had problems with the cover not completely closing when you place the tabs on the inside. For the SL-D2 type tables, align the base even with the dust cover (see photo). For the Q200 type tables with the shorter cover, align the small tab with the bottom of the cover. Use #8 machine screws (included), which work perfectly. Drilling a slightly larger hole in the dust cover can provide some room for adjustment if the alignment is slightly off. To remove a broken tab, use a grinder (or equivalent) and take your time. Wear safety goggles and remove as much of the old tab as possible to ensure the back of the cover is flush. Once done, position the new tab correctly on the cover. Use painters tape, which is strong and leaves no residue, to secure the tab temporarily. Check alignment by placing the cover with the taped tab into the table hinge. This is easier when replacing one tab; if replacing both, take your time and refer to the marks left by the old tab. Once properly aligned, drill the holes through the dust cover. Technic covers are strong and unlikely to crack during drilling. Important: Keep the tabs secured on the cover with painters tape. Feel for the hole locations in the tabs and drill accordingly. This method has been used successfully many times.
